Accessibility Policy
Thy Gifted Neighbor exists to widen access to mentorship, education, and opportunity. That commitment includes people with disabilities — on this website, in our mentorship sessions, and at every event we host or speak at.

Our commitment
We work to make our digital and in-person experiences perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, captions, or other assistive technology.
Standards we aim for
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and to align with the expectations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508. Practical measures include:
- Semantic headings, landmarks, and page structure so content can be navigated in order.
- Text and interface color combinations chosen to meet AA contrast ratios.
- Meaningful alternative text for images and accessible names for buttons and links.
- Full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators.
- Layouts that reflow and remain usable when zoomed or viewed on small screens.
- Forms with clear labels, instructions, and error messages.
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences in animated content.
Accessibility in mentorship and events
- Documents, slides, and handouts shared in a readable, screen-reader-friendly format on request.
- Captions or live transcription for webinars and recorded sessions where available.
- Accessible venues, seating, and stage access for in-person speaking engagements.
- Flexible session formats, timing, and communication methods to accommodate individual needs.
Requesting an accommodation
If you need an accommodation to participate in mentorship, a workshop, or an event, tell us what would work best for you and we will do our best to arrange it. You do not need to disclose a diagnosis or provide documentation to ask.
Ongoing work and known limitations
Accessibility is continuous, not a one-time project. We review our site as it changes and fix issues we find. Some content provided by third parties — such as embedded donation forms, maps, video players, or social media feeds — may not fully meet our standards. Where we cannot fix that content directly, we will work with the provider and offer an alternative way to get the same information or complete the same task.
How we handle reports
- We acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days.
- We investigate and share a plan or timeline, and prioritize barriers that block access to core information or actions.
- While a fix is in progress, we provide the content or service another way on request.
Report an accessibility barrier
If you encounter a barrier on this website or in any TGN program, please tell us. Reports about ADA or WCAG issues, requests for an accommodation, and feedback of any kind are welcome and taken seriously.
It helps if you can include the page address, what you were trying to do, the browser or assistive technology you were using, and how you would prefer we reply.
Please write “Accessibility” in the subject line so your message reaches the right person quickly.
