Privacy Policy
Thy Gifted Neighbor (TGN) is a mentorship organization serving students and aspiring professionals in STEM and medicine. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Last updated: August 25, 2026
Information we collect
We only collect information that helps us provide mentorship, respond to inquiries, and operate this website.
- Information you give us: name, email address, phone number, school or program, stage of training, goals, and anything else you share in a form, email, or mentorship session.
- Application and review materials: personal statements, CVs/resumes, applications, and related documents you send us for feedback.
- Event and speaking requests: organization name, contact details, and event logistics.
- Donation information: processed by our third-party payment and donation platforms. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers.
- Technical information: basic, aggregated data such as pages visited, browser type, and referring site.
How we use your information
- To provide mentorship, guidance, application review, and interview preparation.
- To respond to inquiries, scheduling requests, and speaking or partnership requests.
- To acknowledge donations and meet recordkeeping obligations.
- To send updates, event announcements, or newsletters when you ask to receive them.
- To improve our programs, materials, and website.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only:
- With mentors or volunteers directly supporting you, and only what they need to help.
- With service providers that operate on our behalf (email, scheduling, forms, donation processing, website hosting), under their own privacy commitments.
- When required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of a person or the organization.
- With your permission — for example, if you agree to be featured in a story, photo, or testimonial.
Students and minors
Some of our outreach involves grade-school and high-school students. For participants under 18, we work through parents, guardians, schools, or sponsoring organizations, and we ask for their consent before collecting personal details or scheduling one-on-one mentorship. A parent or guardian may request that we delete a minor's information at any time.
Confidentiality of your materials
Documents you share for review — personal statements, CVs, applications, and interview recordings — are treated as confidential. We use them only to give you feedback, we do not publish or reuse them as examples without your written permission, and we delete them on request.
Data retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as required for legal and donation recordkeeping. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect it, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Cookies and analytics
This site may use cookies or similar technologies to keep the site working properly and to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; core parts of the site will still work.
Your choices and rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete your information.
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in the message or by contacting us.
- Withdraw permission for photos, quotes, or testimonials.
